# `metafield` object

A [metafield](/store-admin/metafields/overview) of a resource. The `metafields` property of a [product](product), [category](category), [page](page), [order](order) or the [store](store) groups the metafields by namespace, then by key: `product.metafields.<namespace>.<key>`.

A namespace or key that does not exist is nil.
