# `request` object

Information about the current URL and the associated page.

### Properties

| Name    |                         Type                          | Description     |
| ------- | :---------------------------------------------------: | :-------------- |
| `url` |           [string](../basics/types#string)            | The url of the request. |
| `host` | [string](../basics/types#string) | The domain that the request is hosted on.  |
| `path` | [string](../basics/types#string) | The path of the request, for example `/products/linen-shirt`.  |
| `design_mode` | [boolean](../basics/types#boolean) | Returns true if the request is being made from within the theme editor. Returns false if not.  |
| `locale` | [store\_locale](./store_locale) | The language of the request.  |
